There is no better skier on the planet than Theresa Johaug, and she proved as much with an incredible come from behind victory to claim the overall Ski Tour Canada title.
In the final stage of the tour, Johaug caught her Norweigan teammate Heidi Weng almost immediately, and proceeded to grasp and extend her lead as the pursuit race wore on. Weng faded under the warm temperatures and slushy snow, and was clearly disappointed by the final result.
Waving to the crowd in between powerful double pole blasts on the final 50 metres, Johaug, who looked tired early in the tour, found extra strength for the final victory.
Weng ended in second place on the tour, while Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg completed the Norweigan sweep of the Ski Tour Canada podium.
Johaug was also awarded the World Cup Crystal Globe overall title for 2016, capping off an incredible day for Norway.
Emily Nishikawa ended the tour in 37th spot with a strong final day, keeping her title as Canada’s strongest female cross-country skier.
